DESCRIPTION:Bring on the city! Out into the street! In the run-up to the festival\, TANZ Bremen and UNUSUAL SYMPTOMS\, the dance company at Theater Bremen\, invite you to the SYNERGY LAB. Here\, specialists in contemporary dance will meet experts in urban styles and develop a week-long artistic exchange with each other. The misleading term “street dance” refers to the origins of hip hop culture 50 years ago. Over time\, its practices and knowledge of an art of the social – beyond the big business of the genre – have grown and can give moving impulses to the discussion about urban development and public space. And that’s what they will do\, outdoors\, comprehensible for all\, by chance encounter with dance in urban space. SUMMARY:Vraiment doucement
DESCRIPTION:How does change actually happen? With this question in mind\, Victor Quijada pondered his first choreography for a large cast – after 14 smaller evening fillers and numerous short pieces. Then\, at the end of 2018\, in the company’s home town Montréal\, Canada\, he brought out EVER SO SLIGHTLY; the French version rhymes\, “Vraiment doucement”.In pandemic times\, the unravelling of emotions and the dissolution of once fixed position help to recognize the status quo. The ten dancers form a kind of society that sometimes moves together and light-footedly masters balances\, sometimes frays into groups\, finally into individual elements that lose their footing. This is contrasted by gentle tones in the encounters\, the willingness to help\, the release of airy centrifugal forces. The action is musically accentuated by Jasper Gahunia and William Lamoureux\, who play an impressive selection of electronic and amplified instruments on one side of the stage. EVER SO SLIGHTLY earned huge cheers when it ended Vancouver’s long theatre closure in October 2021. \nVICTOR QUIJADA grew up listening to hip hop in Los Angeles and\, after dance training and engagements as a dancer\, developed his own method\, which he named RUBBERBAND after the ensemble he founded in 2002. DESCRIPTION:Victor Quijada récidive avec dix danseurs-athlètes au sommet de leur forme. Vraiment doucement s’intéresse aux mécanismes comportementaux et aux réflexes que l’on développe devant le flux constant de nuisances dont nous sommes bombardés au quotidien. Si la plupart des humains portent en eux un réel désir de calme et de résilience\, comment faire son chemin vers une zone où le bruit et les agressions n’ont plus leur place ? Démontrant à la fois délicatesse\, brutalité\, finesse et haute voltige\, le chorégraphe met en scène toute l’énergie contenue dans l’urgence\, la révolte\, le chaos et la fuite. La première de Vraiment doucement a eu lieu en décembre 2018 au Théâtre Maisonneuve de la Place des Arts\, à Montréal. Vraiment doucement est une coproduction de RUBBERBAND\, de Danse Danse\, de la Société de la Place des Arts\, du Théâtre Hector-Charland et de Global Arts Live. SUMMARY:Atelier Méthode RUBBERBAND - Victor Quijada assisté par Jovick Pavajeau-Orostegui
DESCRIPTION:Spécifique à la compagnie\, la Méthode RUBBERBAND est un vocabulaire chorégraphique développé par Victor Quijada qui est maintenant enseigné à travers le monde dans le cadre de programmes universitaires\, de workshops et de classes de maître. Fasciné par la dynamique brute du hip-hop/break et par la pureté du formalisme classique\, Quijada abat les barrières entre les différents types de danse depuis plus de 15 ans. Avec la Méthode\, les participants sont initiés à un vocabulaire né du croisement des danses urbaines et contemporaines\, et doivent porter une attention particulière à l’interprétation\, à la prise de décisions\, à l’utilisation des variations rythmiques\, ainsi qu’au travail avec partenaires. Cette technique de mouvement favorise les déplacements du corps de la verticale à l’horizontale\, le découpage de l’espace à l’aide du corps\, et prépare les danseurs de formation classique et contemporaine au travail au sol. Les ateliers de la Méthode RUBBERBAND sont offerts aux danseurs professionnels établis qui cherchent à diversifier leur langage\, tout comme aux danseurs en formation.
