When he moved to Montreal at age 24, prize-winning choreographer Victor Quijada danced with the Grands Ballets Canadiens before developing his own unique style. Calling upon his background as a street dancer in Los Angeles, Victor blended the artistic approaches of urban dance, contemporary dance, and classical ballet. In connecting these different movement forms, he invented and systematized the RUBBERBAND Method, which he now teaches all over the world. Equity and diversity are prioritized in Victor’s polymorphous creations with their multiple languages. (Source : La Fabrique culturelle)

The Charles-Biddle Award highlights the exceptional contribution of an individual who immigrated to Quebec and whose personal or professional engagement is contributing to Quebec’s cultural and artistic development.

Since 2018, the Charles-Biddle Award has granted two $5000 prizes: one for the contribution, commitment, and impact of the winner on the regional or community level, and the other for those same achievements on the national and international levels.

By their efforts, these men and women are successful role models both in their areas of activity and for Quebec society as a whole. The Charles-Biddle Award is conferred by Quebec’s Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Inclusion in partnership with Culture pour tous and La Fabrique culturelle de Télé-Québec during the Semaine québécoise des rencontres interculturelles, November 18-24.
