AV Input/Output blurs the separation between fiction and reality. On a bare stage, Victor Quijada and Anne Plamondon become contorted puppets, successively lovers, children, and strangers. The two creators take us into a world where intimacy — real or fictional ? — is amplified by projected images of filmed interviews.
This work marked the beginning of Quijada’s collaboration with musician Jasper Gahunia, who warps classical music through hip-hop-inspired sampling techniques. A remarkable synthesis of RBDG’s exploratory work, this dance-reality event combines raw movement and theatricality.
The premiere of AV Input/Output took place in 2008 at the Cinquième Salle of Place des Arts, in Montreal.
