Elastic Perspective assembles selected short pieces created during the two first years of RUBBERBAND’s existence, with Hasta La Próxima in the second half of the full-length program.
The work simultaneously brings out the explosive aspect of Hip Hop and narrative depth in dance. Quijada propels the formal aspect of his work through the fusion of classical aesthetics and breakdance, pairing the concerto, the symphony, opera, and jazz with the power moves of capoeira and Hip Hop.
Elastic Perspective won the Prix RIDEAU Prize and toured Canada in 2004. A remount entitled Elastic Perspective Redux toured until 2009.
The premiere of Elastic Perspective took place in April 2003 at Festival Vue sur la relève, in Montreal.
